Erik's Fishing Trip

Erik went on a fishing trip in July with his brother Hans.   They always look forward to floating the south fork of the snake river.   They both love fishing and have done it for years with their Dad and older brother Bill.  It was just the two of them this year.  Erik said, "We caught some very nice Cutthroat.  It was unbelievably pretty up there, and the annual Salmon fly hatch was starting."   Hans has a great raft that made the trip even better this year.  The few ice cubes in his cooler were still frozen after 2 days of rafting in the middle of summer... now that's a good ice chest.   Too bad I didn't get a picture of the sunburn Erik came home with.

It really does look beautiful.   Maybe I should go with a book and some good food and just enjoy the float.

Looks nice and beautiful. All except for that big bug! When are the girls going on our "fishing" trip? Let's borrow the raft and just float along while sun bathing with a good book and some good eats!

How come my post was deleted by the blog administrator. Who is that? Great pictures Tara. Oh you weren't there. Looks like fun. It's our turn.

I am the blog administrator. I deleted the post, it was from some random guy. His log in name was lonely paul and he just said "Hello." So I deleted him.

I showed your post to Bump and he gives the fish and the Salmon Fly two big thumbs up!! He has floated the south fork many times and it was nice to see some good looking fish and nice river shots.

As for your last comment - floating the river is so relaxing, you definitely should go some time! But don't just take a book, you need to get into some fish and enjoy it together!

Way to go Erik! Glad you had fun!

Erik, I just noticed that you and Hans are wearing the same hat.

Yes, we did have the same hats we got a couple of years ago. I know Bump and Erin know that river and how beautiful the canyon is and the fantastic fish found there. It's a great experience, except for the occasional jet boats. It should be a non-motorized river, as the quiet float is part of the experience in my opinion. I think we have some more photos of the trip somewhere, including more Salmon Flies, Yellow Sallies and of course, trout.
